I had two pieces run in "The Coddling of the American Mind Movie" Substack about obstacles to finding common ground. Part one dropped the day of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
The absolutely most intense contempt I've ever experienced has come from Leftist people. It's not even close.
I've had intense discussions and disagreements with right wingers, especially Christians and 2A gun owners, and I was always amazed at how much they stayed on the topic, even when the discussion got intense. They never called me evil.
But leftists? They'll call you Nazi at the drop of a hat. Any disagreement these days and they go straight to attacking the *person*, not the ideas.
Disagree about open borders? Nazi. Disagree on DEI? Nazi. Disagree on drug enforcement? Nazi.
It's all the Left has left. There are no ideas and no willingness to engage with the ideas. There is only a screeching hatred, on every topic, if you don't toe the line.
Watching leftists react to the murder of Charlie Kirk was the last straw.
Great book review and great point. Contempt kills (relationships). It is impossible to have a dialogue with those suffering from it.
